Autochange Changeover Pressure Reduction Manifolds - Cylinder
The Gas-Arc range of automatic changeover pressure reduction manifolds are designed and manufactured to comply with recognised standards including the requirements of BCGA Codes of Practice CP4. The automatic changeover manifolds are manufactured to operate in conjunction with cylinders filled up to 300 bar and are ideally suited to the requirements of most applications where cylinder gases are used. The standard manifolds are designed to accommodate 2 equal sized banks of cylinders with sizes ranging from 2 x 1 to 2 x 6 with one bank set as duty and the other bank set as reserve.

The manifolds offer the user an uninterrupted gas supply with an alarm option to indicate the reserve cylinder bank has taken over. The unit comprises cylinder support rack, high pressure cylinder tailpipes, isolating valves, contact alarm gauge, 2 primary regulators with re-setting lever, line outlet pressure regulator, pipeline pressure relief valve, low pressure purge/sample valve, line isolation valve and pipeline connection.

Once the cylinder tailpipes have been connected to the cylinder bank, both isolating valves can be opened and by final adjustment of the line regulator, the unit is made operational. The operating lever determines which is the duty cylinder bank, when the lever is in the down position the right hand cylinder bank is in duty (as indicated on the unit cover). The unit will now supply gas until the pressure in the duty cylinder bank falls and at a pre-determined level the reserve cylinder bank will take over the supply of gas. The operator is alerted to the changeover by an alarm panel connected to the contact alarm gauge. The lever on the autochange unit requires re-positioning in order to both reset the alarm and allow for a continuous supply of gas. The empty cylinders should now be replaced, ensuring a repeated changeover can occur for a continuous supply of gas.
